MIDI Studio Integration
Control It is a fully compliant CoreMIDI device, capable of sending note, CC, and program change data to any hardware or software in your studio.
Wireless Control with Network MIDI
You can send MIDI over WiFi to your Mac or PC with near-zero latency using Apple's built-in Network MIDI driver (RTP-MIDI).
Step 1: Configure your Mac/PC
- Mac: Open Audio MIDI Setup > Window > Show MIDI Studio. Double-click the Network icon (Globe).
- PC: Use rtpMIDI (free driver).
- Create a Session named "Macbook" (or similar).
- Enable "Anyone" can connect to me.
Step 2: Connect Control It
- Open Control It > Settings > MIDI.
- Tap Network MIDI Browser.
- You should see your computer listed. Tap it to connect.
- The status dot should turn Green.
Example: Ableton Live Setup
Now that you are connected, let's map a button to start a clip in Ableton.
1. Enable Remote Control
In Ableton > Preferences > MIDI:
- Find "Network Session 1" (Input).
- Turn on Remote.
2. Create the MIDI Action
- Create a new Action in Control It.
- Select MIDI.
- Type: Note On.
- Channel: 1.
- Value: Note 60 (C3), Velocity 127.
3. Map it
Click "MIDI" in the top-right of Ableton (everything turns blue). Select a clip slot, then press your button in Control It. Ableton will learn the note!
Wired Connections
Control It also supports wired USB MIDI interfaces connected via the Lightning/USB-C adapter. No configuration is needed; they will appear automatically in the MIDI settings if your phone detects them.
